Understanding Air Pollution Control Equipment
Air pollution control equipment was created to lower emissions in order to comply with environmental regulations currently in place and future regulations. Air pollution control equipment also has to work within the confines of an industry's processing methods and schedule and fit in their budget. There is air pollution control equipment for the different needs of different industries including those who need to control dust emissions, acid gas emissions and NOx emissions. The air pollution control equipment operates differently in different industries.
One type of air pollution control equipment that may be used is the equipment made to deal with acid gas emissions. This consists of an FGT system that works in dry or semi-dry systems, wet-dry systems, could deal with dioxins and heavy metals, and could also work for emissions from diesel engines or boilers. This is a specialized air pollution control equipment system that would be used in industries that work with utility boilers, industrial boilers, use diesel generators or use gas turbines in their plants. This could also apply to companies that incinerate waste, biomass industries, refinieries, the glass industry, cement industry, ore industry, steel plants, and the fertilizer industry.
Electrostatic Precipitator (ESP)
*This is the best air pollution control equipment for companies using power generators or industrial processing.
*This system is very effective at reducing dust emissions.
*This system is effective up to 99% at reducing emissions
Fabric Filter (FF)
*This system uses different technology than the ESP system.
*This system works for acidic coal sulfur emission collection.
*This system can be used to reduce fine particle emissions like mercury emissions.
Flue Gas Treatment (FGT) and Flue Gas Desulphurization (FGD)
*This system is effective in the waste incinceration industry.
*This sytem effectively reduces NOx, HF, HCI and SOx emissions.
Selective Catalyst Reduction (SCR)
*This is the best system for reducing nitrogen oxide emissions created during combustion.
*This is the best system for reducing flue gas emissions.
*This system can reduce emissions of NOx that cause acid rain and smog by up to 90%.
*This is the best system for on-site NOx emission reduction.
*This system can be specialized for different sites.
Selective Non-catalyst Reduction (SNCR)
*This system can deal with ammonia and urea emissions from convection furnaces.
*This system effectively deals with flue gas emissions.
*This system creates harmless products like water vapor, carbon dioxide and nitrogen.
*This system is economical to use and has many different uses in different industries.
*This is the most economically competitive air pollution control system.
Air pollution is going to be an environmental issue that we are dealing with for a long time and there are going to be more and more regulations that industries will have to follow. Air pollution equipment is going to have to keep up with the demand for new and better equipment to replace old equipment, meet new regulations, deal with preventative maintenance issues, deal with the issue of emergency repairs, and be serviced and maintained to keep it in good working order. The original air pollution control equipment that came out years ago will not meet the new stricter environmental regulations that are being passed today so the equipment will have to be either rebuilt or replaced with new air pollution control equipment. It is estimated that 20% of current air pollution control equipment will need upgrading or replacement.
